Our Story

Picture this, Los Angeles, 2012. Helen is in a pickle after an actor cancels last minute for a part in her short film. She posts a casting-call online and a young, chiseled-faced, model named Brandon Polk submits to her search. Even though he looks the part of the hunk, she asks him three questions. Are you available tomorrow morning, can you memorize the script overnight, and most importantly, will you work without pay? His answer is yes. So she makes him go shirtless, slathers him with baby oil (which causes him to breakout in hives) and well...together they make movie magic!

Brandon and Helen’s first day meeting right before the allergic reaction.

The two kept in touch over the years but never explored anything beyond friendship until 2015 when Brandon attended Helen’s Medieval Times birthday party. Many of her friends who were present swear cupid’s arrow was shot that day, but both of them would say that their love nourished with care and blossomed with time.

Medieval Times B-Day party. Can you see love budding?

Today the two are practically inseparable. You can catch them attending red carpet events, dressing up in matching costumes for Halloween and exploring new places all while they grow stronger in their spiritual walk together.

One of their favorite scriptures is from the book of Corinthians:
Love is patient, love is kind. It always protects, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

What should I wear?

Beach Semi-Formal Wedding Attire for Women

We’ll be in the Caribbean, so that means it will be hot! When considering your attire, we suggest lightweight, non-clingy fabrics to stay cool and unwrinkled. Think colorful, flowy midi or maxi dresses, pretty sundresses or jumpsuits that pair well with a pashmina or cardigan for those ocean breezes (should you need one). Since you’ll likely be walking in sand (no easy feat in high heels!), pair dressy wedges, block heels or flat sandals with your outfit so you can dance the night away with us!

Beach Semi-Formal Wedding Attire for Men

Fabrics like linen, light cottons and seersucker are highly recommended. A summer suit or some variation of it—a shirt and tie, a shirt, tie and vest, or a shirt and blazer—are typical choices. To change up the look on your suit, swap out your tie, add a pocket square and you’re on your way.  Lighten things up by opting for a breathable linen-blend blazer instead of a traditional suit jacket. A button up linen shirt and lightweight pants are also great choices. We want you to be comfortable above all else.

And, don’t be afraid to sport a pair of nice sandals. Just don’t forget the pedicure!

Tip: Remember to keep your skin protected, since the sun may be glaring down with little to no shade. Remember to bring your sunglasses!
